Ok friend, let’s have a real conversation.
Have you ever poured your heart into a session, edited your absolute best work, posted it… and heard crickets? Like actual tumbleweed-rolling-through-your-comments crickets?
I want you to know something before we go any further: it is not because your work isn’t good enough. I promise you that.
More often than not, it’s because there’s a leak somewhere. Not a “you’re doing everything wrong” leak. A quiet, easy-to-miss leak — the kind where potential clients are literally out there searching for exactly what you offer, and something between you and them is blocking the connection. Basically, even though your work is strong, you’re invisible online.
I call these visibility leaks, and I see them in almost every photographer’s business I coach — mine included, before I fixed them.
So grab your coffee (or your fall latte, no judgment), and let’s walk through the five most common ones.
Friend, I love a good “capturing life’s beautiful moments” bio as much as the next girl, but here’s the truth: it tells your potential client nothing. Not what you shoot. Not who you’re for. Not where you’re located.
If someone can’t tell within five seconds what you do and who you do it for, they’re going to keep scrolling. And so is the algorithm.
The fix: Get specific. Your name, your niche, your city. That’s it. That’s the glow up.
We get so deep into our own industry language that we forget our clients don’t talk like we do. They’re not searching “golden hour styled session.” They’re searching “family photographer who won’t stress me out” or “newborn photos that don’t feel awkward and posed.”
The fix: Start writing your captions and blog posts the way your client actually talks. Say the thing they’d say out loud to a friend.
And if you want more specific help on writing blog posts that google will actually show to potential clients, you can read this post here about SEO and AEO (answer engine optomization).
This one’s sneaky. Your website says one service area. Your Instagram bio says another. Your Google Business Profile hasn’t been touched since 2022. Little inconsistencies like this confuse search engines and confuse humans, and confused people don’t book.
The fix: Do a quick pass through your website, Instagram, and Google Business Profile this week. Make sure your name, niche, and location match everywhere.
I get it. The images are the whole point of what we do. But here’s the thing — a caption that’s just “✨” isn’t giving anyone a reason to remember you, book you, or share you with a friend who’s expecting.
The fix: Every post gets a job to do. Educate, connect, or invite. Not just decorate.
This is the one nobody wants to hear, but I say it with so much love: visibility isn’t a one-and-done task. You don’t optimize your bio once in January and expect to be booked out by June. It’s a rhythm, not a checkbox.
The fix: Build visibility into your business the same way you build in your CEO days — on the calendar, before client work touches your books. It’s not an afterthought. It’s the thing that keeps the business running.
That’s not a “you’re behind” moment. That’s a “you just found the leak” moment, and finding it is the whole first step.
This is exactly why I built the Fall Visibility Challenge — a free, simple, step-by-step walk through to help you patch these leaks before the holiday booking season hits. No fluff, no 47-step funnel, just the real stuff that actually moves the needle.
If you’re ready to stop guessing why the algorithm and the inquiries have gone quiet, come join me. Your future fully-booked self will thank you.

And if you’re ready to move past the DIY phase and have actual access to a coach who can support you in this, let’s chat about a VIP DAY. An entire day (or two half days) devoted to building out a plan that is completely tailored for you.
