Locked In A Cabin With 5 Women: What I Learned From Hosting My First Retreat for Family Photographers
Two years ago I started dreaming of a space where I could retreat away with other women to truly focus on pushing our dreams and growing our businesses together.
This 3-day retreat wasn’t necessarily new to me, but up until this point had been just for me.
How It Started
In 2021, I started going away for a few days at the beginning of the New Year to truly reflect on the previous year in business.
I asked questions like:
- What worked really well this past year?
- What offers brought in the most profit?
- What didn’t feel good or aligned last year?
I used these guiding questions to help build out the year ahead.
And when I started doing that, my business was more successful and joy-filled than it had ever been before.
Planning My First Retreat For Women In The Family Photographer Space
A couple of years ago, I had a vision of creating something like this for other photographers.
There were so many shootouts and retreats focused solely on settings, shooting, and editing, but none focused on the less glamorous parts of photography that often go unnoticed.
These supporting characters-SEO, Website Copy, CODB, etc, aren’t the sexy parts of business, but they sure are the ones that give us back time with our family and help us turn a profit.
I knew if I was feeling like something was missing-then maybe others were as well.
I created a breakaway from the noise.
And Just Like That – The 2025 Realign Retreat For Family Photographers Was Born
A space for women to show up as the (She)EOs of their businesses-undistracted and unrestrained.
A space where they could dream big and have others dream with them.
The first retreat was in March 2025 in Ellijay, GA. It was me and 5 other female entrepreneurs tucked away in a beautiful home buried in the mountains.
So, how did it go?
If I had to sum it up in one word, it would be transformational.

These women showed up and made this retreat more than I could have ever dreamed up. Each one brought a unique perspective that inspired and pushed us to dig deeper and really put in the work. Our days were filled with laughter-we laughed till it hurt. Delicious food- yes, you heard correctly-we had a private chef.
Amazing breakthroughs-there wasn’t one person that left without a new offer to launch or something set up on the back end of their business. The only criticism they shared on the feedback form:
“I wish it were longer.”
Would I host another Retreat?
I didn’t go into this retreat with the agenda of launching the next one-I wanted to give myself time to see how it went-see how it felt. But all week the attendees kept saying things like, “So next year when we…” and “Oh, I can’t wait to dive into xyz at next year’s retreat.”
So I sat up at midnight with my assistant and we drafted Round 2 right there on the spot.
I pitched it to our girls and 75% had signed up within 72 hours of leaving.
I’d say that’s a win! All in all, this experience was amazing and I plan to continue sharing it with women just like you. In fact, you can get tickets to the 2026 Retreat right now!

This year we’re going to beautiful Santa Rosa Beach, FL, with white sand beaches just a few minutes walk from the house. I’m invting 8 female family photographers to join me in January, and I’d love for you to attend!
